Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences invites to apply for the Baltic International Summer School

In August 5-14 Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) will host already the 18th Baltic International Summer School (BISS). This year both local and foreign students will have an opportunity to take part in the summer school program “International Tourism Events Management”, getting acquainted with organising tourism events or extending their knowledge about the Latvian culture, language and society.

Up to now, the Baltic International Summer School has covered 650 students from 63 countries of the world. The aim of the Baltic International Summer School is to give the participants knowledge and experience about the sphere of tourism and events management in the Baltic countries, practical knowledge and skills in tourism and events management. This year the participants of Summer School will have a chance to take part in organising some event of the Valmiera city festival and research its impact. As well, the participants will be acquainted with the Latvian culture and language.

As every year, the Summer School will include lectures, seminars, group work, study excursions, as well as a program of culture and leisure activities, so that the participants would remember the Summer School as the best summer in the Baltic countries, according to the motto of the event „My absolutely best summer in Baltics”.

The participants of BISS 2015 admitted that they have developed new skills and competences during the Summer School, including application of information technologies in doing research, analysing and interpreting results which will definitely be useful in future. As one of the main motives for applying to participation in Summer School the participants name the opportunity of working in an international environment, improve the intercultural communication skills and gain new international contacts, which is ensured by BISS.

Since 1999 BISS is a traditional summer education program, taking place every year at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in Valmiera. For the most part of the participants it has created an interest about Latvia and the Baltic states.
