In Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences started 18th Baltic International Summer School

In Valmiera, August 6th, by Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) organized was opened the 18th Baltic International Summer School. Participants from Georgia, Latvian, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Slovenia and Spain addressed  lecturers and organizers.

"Beautiful and culture interweave was BISS opening ceremony in Valmiermuiža - Mara Day celebrations and Valmiera summer theater festival mood. This year is a special year, because VIA is celebrating 20 years, but BISS - 18, the age of majority. Summer school focus is on two Valmiera city important events: theater festivals and town festival.Focus on small, but efficient group that interacts with ViA students, together creating something valuable and useful for  university and Valmiera," said Summer School  head Elina Sokolova-Luca.

Summer school participants were presented gifts, which included much needed things - raincoats, Valmiera and Latvian map, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciencies eco mug and sports bag.

Students found that happy to be in Valmiera, although many of them this is the first time in Latvia.

This summer school takes place in the program - "International Tourism and Events Management / ITEM". Baltic International Summer School will be held from 5 to 14 August.

Since 1999. BISS has been a traditional summer education program which takes part in the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences every year. It is organized with the VIAA - Minister for Education and Development Agency, masters study program "International Tourism and Events Management / ITEM", and a financial support from Valmiera municipaly and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. In total 597 participants from 65 countries have taken part in this program. For a large part of the participants this experience has raised interest in Latvia and the Baltic countries.
