International Summer School Offers Essential Knowledge in the Development of Economy

Vidzeme University College starts to accept electronical applications to participate in the 11th Baltic International Summer School. This year the stress is put on multicultural communication. Students and professionals who need more knowledge in successful cooperation with representatives from different European countries in the sphere of culture are invited to apply. The organisers of the International Summer School ask the potential partners to support the course.

The title of the School is “ East, we, West: Looking for Common and Different in the Culture of European countries.” It takes place in Valmiera from July 1-19. Potential participants are offered the possibility to apply for scholarship. For application form see website: http// Applications must be sent up to April 1 (for participants wanting a scholarship) and up to May 15 (for the rest participants).

“The latest events in the country and in the world confirm repeatedly how correctly we have chosen the subject of the Summer School”, admits Vija Daukšte, the rector of Vidzeme University College. “Economists and marketing analysts point out that in order to overcome difficulties in economy and gain welfare is needed to support export. That is why serious knowledge concerning sale and market economy, culture and society is urgent. We are concerned that intercultural communicative skills are essential and evident now”.

Baltic International Summer School is considered very successful exports with a high added value. It is the way how to popularize Latvia, our teaching staff, the latest projects in culture and social life as well as the knowledge in general. Vidzeme University College is looking for potential partners and sponsors because the present economic crisis is the right time for obtaining new knowledge, experience and competence.

347 students from 54 countries have participated in The Baltic International Summer School up to the present time (including USA, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Japan, China, Portugal, Great Britain, Mexico, Bulgaria, Moldova, Belarus and other countries).

The Baltic International Summer School is annual and it is one of the most important projects of the university with the aim to popularize our University, Valmiera and Latvia in the world. This will be already the 11th time.
