Baltic International Summer School will host 56 students from 14 countries

Baltic International Summer School will take place from 3rd August to August 17 in Valmiera. And will bring together 56 students from 14 countries-Latvian, Lithuanian, Italian, Sweden, Uzbekistan, Slovakia, Germany, Turkey, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Nigeria, Cyprus, Poland and Portugal in two programs-"International Tourism and Events Management / ITEM" and "Development globalization: rural areas and small urban development prospects in the globalized world. "
 
The program "International Tourism and Events Management / ITEM" applied for 75 students who were selected from the 20 best applicants from  Latvian and foreign countries, which will be offer an exclusive opportunity to participate in and carried out research in European capital city "Riga 2014" in celebration time.
 
ITEM program's main objective is to promote ViA international cooperation tourism management studies program, as well as to promote the university's international recognition, attracting stakeholders from universities in Europe and other parts of the world. Practical advice and recommendations of foreign experts, as well as the "view from outside" school participants will identify ideas for tourism and the local business development. The program has been designed in collaboration with the University of Klaipeda, Estonia hotel and tourism management university, Manchester Metrapoliten University, International tourism economy Study Centre in Italy and Latvian Hotels and Restaurants Association.
 
Since 1999 BISS is a traditional summer training program, which each year happen in Vidzeme University. It’s organized with the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme and Valmiera City financial support. General in it took part 583 participants from 64 countries. Many participants from this experience had raised interest about Latvia and the Baltic countries.
